Carmina Villaroel Returns to ABS CBN Channel 2 Kapamilya Network

Actress Carmina Villaroel signed Monday a contract with the ABS-CBN management prompting her return on the Kapamilya channel. And what is in-store for the previous GMA talk show host and teledrama actress? For starters, ABS-CBN is planning a talk show with Carmina and Janice de Belen, who have also crossed to the Kapamilya team last year, as its host. However, details of the planned talk-show such as its format and time slot have yet to be revealed by the network giant. Villaroel also hosted the long time running talk show “Sis” in GMA with De Belen sisters Janice and Geli. Carmina was also reported to replace KC Concepcion’s spot on “The Buzz.” The megastar’s daughter have just been into a controversial brake up with actor Piolo Pascual but, unless Carmina herself appears in the show on its following episodes these reports are still unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, Janice is currently playing as the foster mother of Gerard Anderson in the teleserye “Budoy.” While, Geli is hosting a TV5 cook show called “Gelicious.” Aside from a talkshow, both actresses and close friends Carmina and Janice are expecting a collaboration on an upcoming teleserye. Carmina Villaroel’s last telenovela project in GMA was “Pahiram ng Isang Ina” that ended last November 2011 and she also hosted the long time running show “Day Off” on QTV 11, now GMA News TV.

Rumors of Villaroel switching sides from the Kapuso to the Kapamilya network have been brewing since November of last year. On December 23, 2012, entertainment portal site PEP confirmed the actress’ motives of going back to the Kapamilya network where she starred some of the popular comedy sitcoms back then such as Oki Doki Dok with Aga Mulach and Palibhasa Lalake.

Present on the signing were ABS-CBN executives channel head Cory Vidanes and the network’s entertainment head Linggit Tan. The Kapamilya network introduced Carmina on the viewing public in 1991 in the sitcom comedy Palibhasa Lalake with allstar casts Joey Marquez, John Estrada, Gloria Romero and also returning actor Richard Gomez who had his returning soap “Walang Hanggan” premiering this week. Carmina Villaroel also had one of her last project with GMA Network in the on-going reality-comedy Pepito Manaloto with comedian Michael V.

“I’m really happy that ‘yon, that I’m back here sa aking tahanan kung saan ako nagmula. Yung pagpasok ko dito, yung parang naninibago, at the same time parang yung ang daming memories. Ang daming nag-flashback no’ng Palibhasa Lalaki days,” said Carmina on an interview by PEP.
