Happy Yipee Yehey Final Episode

Filipinos noontime viewing, especially for those who are Kapamilyas, is yet to change once again as noontime variety show Happy Yipee Yehey will be off air soon. The ABS-CBN network confirmed on an official statement that their barely one year old noontime show will be airing its final episode on February 4, 2012. The announcement was sudden but nonetheless not surprising.

On their Thursday episode some of the hosts of the show have given away that the show have reached the end of the road. During a conversation of main hosts Rico J. Puno, comedian Pokwang and John Estrada the three have given away a hint of the show’s predicament. “Rico, may nine days pa tayo. Huwag mong madaliin,” said Pokwang to the singer Puno. Estrada then added the words: “Mga Kapamilya baka akala niyo ay temporary lang kami sa studio na ito kasi pagkatapos ay wala na.” And finally Pokwang have given the show’s final episode when Puno said “Pag-usapan natin sa February 5.” The comedian replied with a loaded answer: “Wala ako sa February 5, nasa Baguio ako.”

The show Happy Yipee yehey haven’t even reached its first year anniversary as the sad news was announced by the network giant. If you could recall, HYY replaced a “hurried” show “Pilipinas Win na Win,” that aired only in a span of months, after Willie Revillame resigned from the ABS-CBN management and took along the show “Wowowee,” along with some of its staff, dancers, and co-hosts. Wowowee was then later named “Willing Willie” after it transferred to TV5.

However, this new development on the noontime slot is something that is expected of the network, who holds a lot of talents, that may be the reason why they seem to take turns on certain projects and shuffling of artists to different shows is nothing but common given the structure and system of an “overloaded” channel (especially compared to GMA and TV5 which have fewer artists on their rooster). Another factor for the “shuffle,” expect that ABS-CBN will eventually think of a replacement variety show for Happy Yipee Yehey, is the influx of returning talents or artists from other stations that have moved on the ABS grounds on just a span of a month or so. Carmina Villaroel, Joey Marquez, Sen. Lito Lapid and Iza Calzado are only a few of the new Kapamilyas.

So, what does the final airing of HYY signifies? Perhaps it only strengthens the claims (more than a fact) that the long-time running GMA variety noontime show Eat Bulaga is still unshaken after almost three decades of dominance on the 12 p.m. timeslot. And to think EB originated from ABS-CBN before it transfered on GMA on the early 90′s. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN assured the public that the hosts from HYY will have new projects or will be redistributed to other shows in the network.

Until the bitter end the show Happy Yipee Yehey will still be showing its regular games such as “Susi ng Kapalaran” and “Tanging Hinga Mo” on its February 4 episode. “My Girl,” the shows mini pageant will also have its finals on the show’s final airing.
