Original Filipino online music store OPM to Go opens soon!
Jett Pangan and Ogie Alcasid who is the President of the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) will set up an online store that will feature Original Filipino Music. The online store will be called OPM to Go.
“It’s an online store. It’s like a very popular music store globally which starts with the letter I where we will feature 100 percent Original Filipino Music. That’s pop, rock, independent, everything,” Jett said in an interview during the Y! Rocks press conference last Thursday, December 8.
The online music store will be a catalog of original Filipino music from major record labels up to independent music artists which will cater to both the local audience and musicians. The sales from the store will go straight to the artists. Ogie Alcasid is actually in charge of tapping major record labels if they could possibly include songs to the OPM to Go online store. On the other hand, Jett Pangan will be in-charge of looking for indie bands and artists who are willing to make their music available in the music online store. The beta version of the online store will be launched at the end of this month.
Filipino music is really great. It’s only appropriate that with the rapid advancement of technology Filipino talents and creativity should keep at pace with current trends. Having an online presence of Filipino music will create opportunities for great Filipino music artists to be heard all over the world. We have great talents here.
Great talented individuals are being discovered nowadays through the internet. Justin Bieber, who is a kid from Canada, got discovered in Youtube for his amazing guitaring and singing at an early age; and now he’s a big-time singing star in the world. Charice, who is a Filipino singer, got discovered also in Youtube by Ellen Degeneres because of her unbelievable big voice. Oprah Winfrey helped her out and now, Charice is working together with David Foster, a multi Grammy Award winner.
Online presence is sure a trend nowadays. Your voice can be easily heard throughout nations, because of the interconnection that the internet is providing. There are a lot of talented and great musicians from the Philippines who produce world-class songs. These songs are meant to be shared with the world. These can touch hearts. Hopefully, through this endeavor of OPM, opportunities will be created for thousands of talented Filipno music artists. We’ve got to be heard! I’m so excited for this site.

I will support OPM!
“It’s like a very popular music store globally which starts with the letter I” – this line is funny haha…XD
I’m looking forward to this online store..
love opm!jah love! :D
I will definitely support this. I’ve been a regular customer of i-Tunes and have been buying there most of the Filipino artists songs available there. Would you believe, it’s from i-Tunes that I found some songs in the 70′s that I like most. Now there is this OPM site, that will be great. Please include the songs of Nora Aunor, the late Walter Navarro, Florence Aguilar… those songs in the 70′s which I love most.
Thanks and best regards.
