Speed Dating at Cafe Publico Greenhills
What is Speed Dating? When people have been married for so long, we end up wondering how they met and the stories behind the development of their relationship. Whenever we do this, we always get surprised with the ridiculous and charming things we hear from these couples. There are the favorite stories such as meeting each other during parties, soirees, and other events. There are also those that have a little bit of serendipity up their sleeves – bumping into each other on an unexpected moment, running into each other for numerous times. While these stories are magical and wonderful in their own way, there are also those stories that have a little bit of planning and expectation in them. We call it… speed dating.
What exactly happens in activities like this anyway? Speed dating is a “fixed” or more planned way of meeting people. It’s a kind of dating process in which people would go around tables meeting different people in a short amount of time. It began actually only for the single Jewish people who wanted to meet potential partners. In cases like this, first impressions are usually crucially important because they are only given a couple of minutes to get to know each other. At the end of the event, they only have that brief encounter with the person and usually, it’s not really enough to conclude which is why they try to make the most out of it and show their best selves. Today, the prevalence of these speed dating activities is getting bigger and bigger that there now even online speed dating events that people look forward to. In the Philippines, speed dating is not exactly an everyday event that people go to on a daily basis. For some, they still get a bit hesitant with meeting new people this way as Filipinos, by nature, tend to be very traditional. However, the modern times are slowly making us realize that there’s nothing wrong with a little fun and surprise.
